Choice of motifs, colours and materials: the textile designer is at the crossroads of every trend and every innovation.

As a creative and professional training course, Ecole Conte’s Textile design pathway trains textile designers to work for the biggest Parisian design and trends offices.

The training can be combined with work placements from the second year onwards.

1st year

Learning the basics

Exploration of disciplines specific to textile design: core artistic techniques, application of fabric design – motifs and colours, graphic composition ideas, and materials research.

02
2nd year

Immersion in a professional environment

The learning becomes a reality. The knowledge acquired is put into practice using prototypes. Students are placed in a real-life working environment, and abide by business constraints through their participation in professional competitions during which they make presentations to big names.

03
3rd year

Asserting your own artistic personality

This time is devoted to completing a freely chosen personal project. The finished product is evaluated during the month of June by a panel of well-known professionals including research work, the design steps, staging of the inspiration, and the quality of the end-product.

Admission procedure

Educational level required: Baccalaureat

Personal work portfolio:

For B1s:

  • Creative portfolio: any creative output is accepted (including photos, collage, drawings and paintings) – the more varied the elements you submit, the more solid is your portfolio.
  • Report on a recently viewed exhibition on a new development in branding or fashion (20 to 30 lines)

For B2/B3s:

  • Creative portfolio: 1 trends board or mood-board and/or technical information sheet (clothing or accessory) + drawings (not just a silhouette) + work on colour and/or motif (any output is acceptable). Any creative output is accepted (including photos, collage, drawings and paintings) – the more varied the elements you submit, the more solid is your portfolio.
  • Report on a recently viewed exhibition on a new development in branding or fashion (20 to 30 lines)

Qualities required: the textile designer must be eager to learn and inventive. It is vital to have a good cultural background in textiles and artistic domains. To really stay on top of trends, you must keep up to date on worldwide developments and have a global mindset.
